After taking place for the first time in 2024, the annual Sheffield Mela multicultural festival returns for its second year on 3 August 2025.

“Mela” is a Sanskrit word meaning “gathering” or “to meet” and is commonly used in the Indian subcontinent to describe festive events that celebrate various aspects of culture, including music, dance, food, and arts. The Sheffield Mela typically features performances by artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, showcasing a range of traditional and contemporary music and dance styles.

It’s a vibrant event that promotes diversity, unity, and community spirit for people of South Yorkshire in the city of Sheffield.

Expect live performances from singers and dance groups with South Asian backgrounds, activities for young people, exhibitions and demonstrations highlighting the diverse cultural traditions of the South Asian community, fun fair rides, info stalls, and more.

Sheffield Mela is timed to coincide with South Asian heritage month.
