To mark St. Patrick's Day, Sheffield Transformed is working with Cooperation Sheffield to co-host a screening of The Wind That Shakes the Barley on Thursday 13th March.
In this acclaimed Ken Loach film, Cillian Murphy and Padraic Delaney play brothers who join the Irish Republican Army in 1920 to fight the British, but then later find themselves on opposing sides of the Irish Civil War.
The Wind That Shakes the Barley was awarded the Palme d'Or at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival and remains Loach’s biggest commercial success.
The film will be introduced by Gerry Kelly, Connolly Association member, who will provide a history of the struggle for Irish independence from British colonialism and occupation.
7pm start at the Broomhall Centre. Tickets are priced on a sliding scale of £0-£7.
