Friday at Alder Bar sees Leeds imprint Private Regcords take over to curate a night that pulls together nine artists for a full-throttle label showcase.
Normal Village will bring their fusion of post-punk, math rock and ear-worm choruses. Bathing Suits follow with their dance-noise/post-punk blast, living by the mantra “Always dancey. Always loud. Always sexy.” Elwell add
emotional bite and jagged indie heft, pulling members from across the Leeds DIY circuit to fuse 90s emo with 2000s indie grit.
Saturday will move things in a completely different direction with a series of special courtyard performances from a range of Jazz artists playing everything from classic standards to free-form. It will be headlined by the Double Time Jazz Orchestra – a 6 to 12 piece group based in Sheffield playing bebop, swing, funk and pop.
There’ll also be a live graffiti battle taking place from Lick Of Paint during the music.
