Located right by the canal in Victoria Quays, the Dorothy Pax takes its name from a historic Sheffield boat – and its bar is even made from parts of the boat itself. It specialises in blues shows, with the Honey Bee Blues Club regularly putting on nights. The gigs are always an intimate affair, making it the perfect setting to hear the best contemporary blues acts. On top of all the blues, it also hosts everything from country, folk, jazz, electronic and classical gigs to spoken work nights, improv comedy and music quizzes, and a weekly poker night on Wednesdays.
Head down on Thursday and Friday lunchtimes to enjoy food vegan and vegetarian food expertly cooked by the people behind Kumquat Mae, the much-missed Abbeydale Road restaurant.
Oh, and to top it all off, the Dorothy Pax has a resident cat – though that doesn't mean it isn't also very dog friendly.
