The Sheffield culture guide written by in-the-know locals

Kelham Island Books and Music

Kelham Island Books and Music, 284 Shalesmoor, S3 8UL

Open Wednesday–Friday 12–6:30pm, Saturday 10am–5:30pm, Sunday 11am-4:30pm

A calm utopia in lively, characterful Kelham Island, this shop runs on a spirit of sustainability and affordability.

On entering Kelham Island Books and Music, you’re met with a well-curated selection of secondhand books and vinyl. Local history, fantasy, crime thrillers, walking guides, folk recordings – “there is not much we don’t have,” says owner David.

By recycling and selling at good prices, books here can continue to be discovered and enjoyed by all. Far from dying out, as David sees it, “there still is a lot of affection for the book.”
