Kelham Island Tavern

Kelham Island Tavern, 62 Russell Street, S3 8RW

Open 12pm-12am

Originally opened in the 1830s, the Kelham Island Tavern has become the jewel of the Sheffield real ale quarter. It's pretty much wallpapered with CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) certificates and has won CAMRA National Pub of the Year twice, so you know the beer's better than average.

During the summer months, its ideal for outdoor drinking, with its exotic palm tree-lined beer garden acting as a beacon for folk music, morris dancers and real ale enthusiasts. And in winter, if there's such thing as a quintessential cosy pub then the Tav meets the criteria. It has corners that are best described as nooks, an open fire, and an affectionate pet cat (by the name of Pusscat, in case you need to politely ask her to share her seat).

Monday is quiz night, Sunday is folk/acoustic evening.

Kelham Island Tavern features in our ale trail of cosy Kelham Island pubs.
