The Octagon Centre

The Octagon Centre, Clarkson Street, S10 2TQ

The Octagon Centre quickly became an icon in Sheffield's music scene after its opening in 1983. It's where Nirvana played when they came to town in 1991. Oasis performed there in 1994, just after the release of their first album. And the likes of Cypress Hill, Bloc Party, Skunk Anansie, Goldfrapp, Arctic Monkeys and more have all taken to the stage here over the years. If these eight walls could talk...

Today, the folks at Sheffield University Performance Venues continue to bring gigs, as well as sport and comedy shows, to this acoustically spectacular space on the uni's campus.

Keep an eye out for anything from old retro rockers to new indie sensations, among contemporary and classical acts from the brilliant University of Sheffield Concerts series.
