Based in Melbourne, Thomas has built a growing reputation for intelligent, emotionally resonant songwriting rooted in working life, memory, history, and human connection. His songs draw from the folk tradition while remaining deeply contemporary – balancing social conscience with warmth, humour, and strong melodic craft.
In recent years he has performed at festivals including Yackandandah Folk Festival, Newstead Live, Burke & Wills Folk Festival, and the National Folk Festival in Canberra. In 2026 he also appears at the historic Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival alongside a broader UK touring run.
Thomas was recently awarded the Troubadour Foundation’s ‘Keeping the Flame Alive’ Award for his contribution to socially engaged folk music.
His forthcoming album, I Remember Everything, will be released in September 2026. The record explores themes of memory, work, resistance, family, and modern Australia through richly detailed narrative songs. Recent single The Last of the Old Holdens has drawn strong audience response for its portrayal of the rise and fall of Australia’s car industry and the lives shaped by it.
