The Sheffield culture guide written by in-the-know locals

Lick of Paint is a mural and street art festival for Sheffield.

It happened for the first time over a packed weekend in September 2025 – bringing together local and international talent to transform the city's walls, underpasses and empty corners with powerful, high-quality public art.

Sheffield-based artists Alastair Flindall (aka Neck of the Wood Studio) and Megan Russell (aka Peachzz) are behind Lick of Paint. Alastair is known for his community-led work and immersive projects. Peachzz, meanwhile, is a muralist whose 25.5 metre-high kingfisher and heron mural in Pound’s Park was runner-up in Street Art Cities' Best Mural of the World.

Lick of Paint will return for a second festival in 2027. Expect smaller creative events from the team throughout 2026 though – watch this space for details!
