Everything has a structure, whether simple or complex, bold or barely discernible and this fundamental aspect is the basis for the latest exhibition at Cupola Gallery.
“With a title like Structure we wanted to leave our expectations at the door. Artists were given free reign to submit work however they saw fit. We weren’t disappointed. We are delighted to be featuring works from over 60 artists, from recent graduates to more established names. It's a joy to build an exhibition from such a strong range of work.” – Karen Sherwood, Director.
From a soft sculpture installation of body parts and a skull with bejewelled headphones, through to exquisite paintings both abstract and figurative in oil, acrylic and mixed media, the gallery will immerse you into the wonderfully diverse talents of artists.
Ceramic towers, vessels, busts and organic forms sit alongside mixed media assemblages and a chair remade into a figure. Printmaking and painting make references to urban and brutalist architecture as well as colourful and purely abstract joyful imagery. The theme of ‘Structure’ has been interpreted in multiple broad ways to give us such an exciting, stimulating and thought provoking exhibition.
