The Tubs are ‘Husker Du meets Richard Thompson” according to Nicky Wire of the Manic Street Preachers.
Turning ‘jangle’ up to the max, their music combines Johnny Marr-like guitar riffs, Teenage Fanclub-style harmonies and celtic folk influences. It’s a sound that has seen the London-based four-piece establish themselves as one of the most exciting bands in the new wave of British indie rock, recently signing to Merge Records.
Their latest album, Hard Life, has seen the group push their sound further into virtuosic indie rock, with fiddle player Chris Haigh (who also played on Steps’ ‘5,6,7,8’) adding a lush new element.
Support comes from fellow jangle poppers Bramwell and Sheffield’s psychedelic synth wizards Sister Wives.
